"Forward We Go" was born out of a mother's determination to help her son fight cancer. This young man was in medical school & doing important research. He was an Eagle Scout, pianist, beloved son, brother, & friend. When faced with overwhelming odds, the whole family was determined to just keep going. Keep going forward. Forward we go!

The phrase spread & so did the family's courage. Sadly, his final battle ended as too many cancer fights do. Thankfully, he lives on in the hearts of family & friends. His research has helped change the way some medical issues are tackled. Because he is remembered, he will never truly be gone.

The hexagon shape & patchwork are in honor of my mother, Leona. She heard the phrase & used it many times. Mother made dozens of quilts of pieced hexagons, from dime-sized to donut-sized. She created Flower Gardens & other quilts that have been shared with many friends & family who treasure the love in each piece.
